On 26 March Hindu Newspaper published a cartoon where Coronavirus has been shown dressed in a Muslim attire with Gun in their hands and pointing it towards the earth.
The cartoon was made by Deepak Harichandran who is the design editor. The virus was shown wearing a Pathani suit which is usually worn by Muslims in India.
The Hindu newspaper posted a picture of this cartoon on Twitter and was bashed for spreading Anti Muslim Hatred at this situation where the world has been facing problems due to Coronavirus.
After being questioned the newspaper has replaced the Pathani suit with stick figures and regret unhappiness but the newspaper has not apologized for such disturbing acts against Muslims.
The editorial said that it was unintentional and cartoons must have shown as a stick figure and regret it they have caused unhappiness and this cartoon has been taken down from Twitter.Â
People on social media expressed their anger and questioned the Hindu newspaper that even if they have replaced the picture they have exposed themselves by promoting such cartoon which promotes hatred towards Muslims. Such acts are Islamophobic and demand Apology.
People say that Islam is a highly misinterpreted religion. It is the religion that spreads love and not hatred. Such acts must not be supported and must be questioned.
One person questioned the Hindu newspaper that the virus has been originated from a non-Muslim country and why was it associated with Muslim attire. People on Social media demanded an apology from the Hindu Newspaper.
