Yusuf Derbeshyre shares his story of how he converted to Islam. Yusuf a British Citizen said that he used to go out every Saturday to drink.
While he was going on a holiday to Greece so he decided to choose some books so that he would be able to read them while sitting near the swimming pool.
Yusuf went to WHSmith to get some books to read. He was searching for books but couldn’t find the one he wants to read.
As he was about to leave he knocked on the bookshelf and as a result, the books fell down. While picking up the books he noticed that the books were all the same And was written by Barnaby Rogerson.
Barnaby Roberson wrote the book “The Prophet Muhammad(P.B.U.H): A Biography”. Yusuf read the first page of the book and he found it Interesting so he read the second page of the book. Yusuf decided to purchase the book and took the book along with him on his holiday.
When Yusuf read the book he wanted to learn more. Yusuf went to the local mosque after he came back from his holiday.
He spoke to the people in the Mosque and said to them that he wants to learn more about the religion. The Imam at the Mosque said to Yusuf that to better understand Islam one should become A Muslim. Yusuf then decided to become a Muslim and took Shahadah.
Yusuf was able to relate himself with the Uncle of Prophet Muhammad(P.B.U.H) who is known as Hamza. Yusuf said that he was able to relate with them as they were also reverts.
He related himself With the Uncle of Prophet Muhammad(P.B.U.H) because Hamza was also facing a difficult life due to drinking. Yusuf went to Hajj where he saw the battle scene of Uhud and saw where the prophet’s Uncle died. He cried while he saw Hamza’s grave.
Yusuf wanted to Name his son Hamza as he was deeply inspired by him. But he was blessed with a daughter so he named her Safiyya. One day when Yusuf was frustrated he read a book on Uhud and what Happened after the battle. The book mentioned that Hamza’s sister was Safiyya. Safiyya was the name that Yusuf named her daughter and this name was suggested to him by his mother.
